A little about Fatima

A little about Fatima :)

Hi everyone! If you haven't figured it out already from the title, my name is Fatima and I'm from a small city which almost nobody has heard of- Polokwane (formerly known as Pietersburg) in the Limpopo province. :)

I'm twenty (20) years old and currently living my best life (the best that I can during a pandemic- yikes!) with my parents in our hometown. Along with studying teaching, I work in our family business, which is a hardware store... nope, I DON'T sit and count hammers and nails all day (haha). I handle the social media and marketing of the business, which I must say, is a harder task than one would think! Along with that, I work at a tuition centre (on Saturdays) started up by members of our community which focuses on helping ALL children who are struggling in school.

I think my love for teaching started when I was little... My cousins and I would spend every free moment playing a little made-up game called "Teacher-Teacher" where we'd all take turns being the teacher of a classroom. However, as I grew up, so did my love for teaching. My dad is a teacher and so I'd always hear stories of his time studying and practising. Although he studied Senior Phase Business Studies & Economics, I always felt a special bond between us with our love for teaching and helping others. Throughout my schooling years, I found joy in helping my friends and peers with studying and homework. My teachers also served as a major inspiration for me. They were so full of passion and love, they never hesitated to help. One day I hope to be as good as teacher as my dad and former teachers were.

Being the only girl born into a family of boys, I grew up around sports and lots of activities, which I have to admit, grew onto me. I absolutely love a good game of tennis, table tennis, soccer, cricket, any and every sport- be warned, I complain A LOT when I lose haha! Aside from sports, I love reading books, but not the 'intellectual' kind. I'm a hopeless romantic and so mostly read RomComs, and I've even began to write my own (good luck to me with that one!). I'm not sure if this counts, but I love collecting memories if that makes sense. Little bits of paper, stationery, key-rings, even sweet wrappers! Anything that reminds me of the good things in life. What I'm most passionate about, is my family and best friend. While in school, I was bullied a lot, and quickly learned that the best friends you can have, are family.

To be honest, I am a little bit nervous about the module, but I know that if I put in the time and work hard, nothing is impossible!

My expectations from this module are like my expectations for all my other modules - to learn and gather as much information to make me a teacher that not only my family and I will be proud of, but my lecturers too! And have fun while learning of course! ;)
